They travel to the equatorial forest in the DR Congo to the nomadic Mbuti people, who are threatened by illegal logging and driven out of the forests while resisting. Do they want the skeletons back and with them the spirits of their ancestors? For with the masks, skulls and skeletons also return the spirits that the Europeans:inside stole and locked away in colonial times. Singing and dancing with them, they develop a ritual with which the seven spirits can come to rest. The result is a multimedia music theater piece about (neo-)colonial crimes, about death and mourning.

Tickets exclusively via Qultor:

09.06.2023, 20:00: https: //tickets.qultor.de/event/the-ghosts-are-returning/the-ghosts-are-returning-2023-06-09-2000/tickets

10.06.2023, 18:00: https://tickets.qultor.de/event/the-ghosts-are-returning/the-ghosts-are-returning-2023-06-10-1800/tickets

Organizer

africologneFESTIVAL / afroTopia e.V.

The event is supported by the Federal Cultural Foundation in the TURN 2 fund and by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media in the NEUSTART KULTUR program.

In The Ghosts are Returning, GROUP50:50, a collective of artists from Congo, Switzerland and Germany, tells the story of seven so-called ‘pygmy’ skeletons found by a Swiss doctor in…

[318,319

394
post-8470","mec-events","type-mec-events","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","mec_category-art-en","mec_category-culture-en","mec_tag-africologne-en
["GET
