What does it actually mean to be African? Reading & Fishbowl Discussion

The literature and education series stimmen afrikas presents the essay by author and journalist Afua Hirsch Was heißt eigentlich Afrikanisch-sein? The text serves as a basis for discussion for the personal exchange of people from the Cologne Black Communities, which also visitorsThe aim is to familiarize the white majority society with the questions of self-definition and belonging as well as the marking by the white gaze. These and other aspects are to be discussed with the visitors.inside space, especially to express the visions of the future of Black people. Activist Joanna Peprah (ISD Cologne), who is active in the Cologne community, will moderate the event in a fishbowl format. The actress Dela Dabulamanzi, who was born in Cologne and lives in Berlin and is well-known through film and TV, will first read the text by Afua Hirsch. This will be followed by a first round with two more guests: with Gina Hitsch (Be Your Future, Cologne) and with Julienne De Muirier (author). Then, according to the fishbowl concept, alternating people from the audience are invited to sit on a 5th chair and participate in the discussion.
