Music Program – African Futures – Together on the Way 2/3.6. at the RJM

Opening ceremony of African Futures – Together on the Way on 2.6.23, 3 p.m.

R&B artist Naiyango discovered her passion for music as a young girl in her parents’ backyard in Tanzania. Through music, Naiyango experienced a sense of belonging that awakened in her two goals, among others: to share joy and to help others feel understood through music. As a result, Naiyango began pre-production on their debut album at fairtone Studio in 2019, which will be released in 2023. www.naiyango-is-music.com

African Futures – On the Road Together on 3.6.23, 1:30 p.m.

Varinia Akua writes, sings and produces her songs herself.
Her voice is strong and gentle at the same time. Her singing is enriched by rap and chanting elements. Her music is at home in house and pop and is also influenced by her time in the ballroom / voguing scene as a member of the former first German voguing house.

In her songs you can feel the love for dance, playful and cool at the same time, she deals with topics that touch her: emotional ups and downs, empowerment and queer lifestyles. @variniaakua

AGWAAN stands for “Here we go” – derived from the Jamaican patois “What a gwaan?” – “What’s up?”

AGWAAN is an intercultural Afrobeat & Reggae band composed of six musicians from Congo, Guinea, Togo, Senegal and Mauritius.

This mix can be felt in the polyrhythm of the music and the African attitude to life that the band transports to the audience during their dynamic live gigs. Their music embodies authentic Africa combined with influences from reggae and funk.

Since 2016, AGWAAN always puts a big smile on people’s faces and makes even the back rows “bounce along”. New groove, constant development and the deep connection to the music, across all borders, makes the band so authentic and unique.
