ResisDancing – solo dance piece by Dessa Ganda

The solo dance piece ResisDancing by DessaGanda deals with forms and expressions of resistance. The dance exploration of salient personalities and characteristics of resistance over time, focuses mainly on the production of striking movement, images and postures.

The choreography plays with concrete and abstract movements, inspired by dances such as the “Ghost Dance” of the Sioux, the dances of the Zulu, the Bakutu (Cape Verde), movements and rites of women’s unions such as the Adjanou (Ivory Coast), the Agbadja, Gazo, Kamou
(Togo), Capoeira (Brazil) and Krump ( USA). In the process, the dances are enriched and transformed to convey the messages of the piece.
